📚 Workshop Overview

With 40% mortality at one month and only 25% of patients functionally independent at six months, intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is a devastating disease in dire need of effective treatment. Clinical trials investigating open surgery, blood pressure control, and hemostatic agents have not demonstrated marked improvements — resulting in a dearth of options for these patients.

This Northwestern Medicine workshop reviews the current evidence and latest interventions for ICH — including strategies for medical and surgical management, along with hands-on training recordings of endoscopic hemorrhage evacuation using 3D-printed heads.

“An excellent, comprehensive review of MIS techniques for ICH. The practical pearls from the faculty and debate sessions are invaluable for any neurosurgeon looking to adopt these approaches.” — Dr. Sarah T., Neurosurgeon

✓ Endoscopic ICH Evacuation
✓ MIND & ARCH Trial Results
✓ Pro/Con Surgical Debates
✓ 3D-Printed Hands-on Workshop

🎯 Program Objectives

  • 01 Review the natural history, trial data and current treatment options for intracerebral hemorrhage.
  • 02 Discuss medical interventions targeting hematoma growth, ICP control, anticoagulation reversal, seizure management and neuro-intensive care for ICH patients.
  • 03 Explain the evidence behind surgical interventions for ICH and the pros/cons of different techniques for minimally invasive ICH evacuation.
  • 04 Demonstrate proficiency in image-guided endoscopic evacuation of ICH in simulation lab using 3D-printed heads.
